See how the players rated in the Blues' heartbreaking loss
The Queensland Maroons have taken an early lead in the 2022 State of Origin series, defeating the New South Wales Blues 16-10 in a thrilling Game 1 at Accor Stadium in Sydney.
The Blues were left to rue a number of missed opportunities, with several handling errors proving costly in the end. Queensland, on the other hand, made the most of their chances and were clinical in their execution.
The Maroons opened the scoring in the 12th minute through a Cameron Munster try, and they never looked back. Kalyn Ponga added a second try just before halftime, and Daly Cherry-Evans sealed the victory with a penalty goal in the 75th minute.
The Blues' only try came from debutant Daniel Tupou in the 50th minute, but it was not enough to prevent the Maroons from taking the early advantage in the series.
The two teams will now head to Perth for Game 2 on June 26.
